Speed Up Key Tasks, Keep Moving Forward - Wanrun Mining Accelerates Zimbabwe Gold Mine Construction
Release Time:2026-05-21
PM Gold Mine: Infrastructure Completed, Entering Equipment Installation
As the core project, PM Gold Mine’s processing plant has been built to high standards. The team followed standardized electromechanical construction rules, coordinated schedules and resources, and smoothly shifted from civil works to equipment installation.
Floor Construction Finished
Floor pouring in the filter press, leaching, desorption electrolysis, laboratory, reagent warehouse, maintenance and material warehouses has been completed, laying a solid base for equipment and system commissioning.

The construction of all key supporting facilities is being accelerated in tandem, delivering fruitful phased outcomes.
Crushing Workshop: Retaining wall formwork installed on April 6; jaw crusher base concrete finished on April 27.

Grinding Workshop: No.4 belt pit masonry and plastering completed, ready for ball mill and classifier installation.

Raw Material Yard: Retaining wall construction started on April 27 to prevent ore loss in the late rainy season.

Equipment Arrived on Schedule
In late April, the third batch of processing equipment containers arrived and was unloaded, supporting full installation and early production.
Overcoming Supply Challenges
Amid mid-April local cement shortages, the project adjusted plans, sourced local suppliers and stocked materials during the Easter window, limiting floor construction delays to within 48 hours.
On April 20, the team held high-level talks with Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) to upgrade power distribution, targeting completion by the end of Q2 for stable large-scale production.

SG Gold Mine: Stable Production Preparation, Underground Construction Upgraded
Since April, SG Gold Mine has focused on stable production and ore preparation, upheld safety, optimized underground processes and improved efficiency. The mine is now ready for the stoping phase.
Steady Tunneling, Key Roadway Connected
Underground construction remained stable despite local civil explosive supply fluctuations. Inclined shaft tunneling reached 110m on April 6, 117m on April 13 and 122m on April 20.

On April 20, the first‑level haulage roadway expansion began; 12m was excavated by April 27, forming the mine’s first production‑level haulage system and enabling future stoping.

Equipment Upgraded for Safety
With deeper tunneling, underground winches were upgraded and finely maintained in mid-April to improve mucking and feeding safety and stability.

Main water and air pipelines were extended weekly to ensure stable drilling air supply. Living camp construction advanced to support three-shift operations.

Deepening Local Cooperation
Limited civil explosive procurement was a major constraint. The project strengthened local and community ties through Easter and Independence Day assistance and sponsorship events on April 6 and 20.
This win-win local cooperation solidified relations with the Matobo Regional Government, laying groundwork for cooperation with Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI) and securing adequate explosive quotas for long‑term production.

Moving Forward, Embarking on a New Journey
Despite a complex external environment and local resource constraints, Wanrun Mining’s two Zimbabwe gold projects have achieved steady progress. PM Gold Mine has finished civil works and received equipment; SG Gold Mine has connected key underground roadways and established a stable production setup. Both projects have entered the critical stage of equipment installation, commissioning and large-scale mining preparation.
Going forward, Wanrun Mining will maintain a pragmatic work style, enforce strict safety and quality controls, speed up construction, deepen local operations and promote early production of overseas gold projects to support the company’s high-quality development.
